A very special thank you to all who helped make this year’s 21st Annual Gibson Run-Walk benefiting the St. Patrick Center such a wonderful success. This year there were over 2,000 runners in the race. The 5K is the third largest race in the City! A giant thank you to all who promoted it, volunteer in it and ran in it. A very special thanks to our sponsors:
Dr. Jodi Rump (our own faithful parishioner), Landers Ford, Federal Express Corporation, Southland Corporation Sharp, Robbins and Popwell General Contractors.
And thank you to Gibson Guitar for the donation of two guitars to auction off, for the use of their building, their name and their rooftop.
Thank you also to Wendell Lindsey for his professional auctioning skills. And thank you to parishioner John Gavin, the winner of one of the two auctioned Gibson guitars.
Thank you also to Rusty Ramsey and Craig Wilkerson (professional competition bar-bquers and winners) who donated and cooked the bar-b-q for the 650 sandwiches given out after the race. Thank you also to all the volunteers who helped with the race and for all who provided the bottled water so critical to the racers. Thank you to Anne Stubblefield for organizing the rooftop party — you did a fantastic job, Anne!
Last, but most assuredly not least, a “hiphip-hooray!” to our very own Joe Birch for founding this race 21 years ago and for continuing each year to work with it, improve it, and see it to a remarkable conclusion. Just when you think he can’t do any better or top the previous year, Joe exceeds your expectations. Thank you, Joe! You are a true gift!
Thanks to all and God willing — we will see you next year.
